Visit on Saturday

We had a fun visit with my grandma and mom Saturday afternoon. It's always nice to get together with the both of them. They act like a old married couple poking fun at each other. My grandma is one of the most hilarious people I know and what makes it funnier is she has no clue how funny she real is. Of course after lunch we played some card games with them. My grandma and I were feeling lucky and won lots of dimes. It's always a bonus for the kids when great-grandma comes over because she always greets them each with a dollar.

Winter Paint Booth

Our sunroom once look like this just a few hours ago. Brandon, Colin and Lily made me a place to paint for the winter. They put insulation down and over it they used plywood boards. I also bought a space heater when it gets really cold. Now I can't wait to use it!

Chest for Inspiration

My mom bought this chest from me and is borrowing it to my brother as a tv console. Anytime someone comes over to his house he gets compliments on the piece. My mom talks about how it's his only on borrowed time. So when we went shopping Friday she told me how she doesn't have any white furniture in her place and if I could redo the sewing machine black with the front door like the chest. My response was sure, I guess.
Sewing machine once looked like this!
Then it was transformed to this style.
Within 20 hours I altered it and used the chest as an inspiration per my mom! To be honest I had so much fun doing this project. My mom was beyond excited!

My mom asked me to keep my eyes peeled for a headboard for my nephew Will. So we checked out a nice thrift store in my area. Sometimes you can find some great deals. But sometimes you see a lot of things I think are way over priced. This dresser below comes with a huge price tag of $175. What?! So after taking this picture I reminded myself why I was there....headboards. As I was checking out headboards I found this beauty and stole it! I meant bought it for $17! I'm so happy, happy, happy!
Oh, and I kept my eyes on the prize and found my nephew a headboard. They wanted the headboard to be a slate blue. So when I got home I got to work and painted it. It came out perfect for a special little boy.

Black Friday

This morning Brandon and I woke up at 4 a.m. and couldn't get back to sleep. There was a thought if one of us should venture out to a store to get some good deals but instead we talked and laughed at each other. You got to love when you can poke fun at yourself to get a good laugh. My mom and I have made a tradition in the last few years of shopping on Black Friday. Brandon went to Starbucks to get us all coffee and my mom came over by 7 a.m.. I helped her shop for all the grand kids and Big Colin. One of my favorite stores we went to was in downtown Lake Geneva. It had the coolest kids daybed. It once was an antique rod iron crib and it was absolutely gorgeous. They had the neatest light fixtures and throughout the store I was in complete awe!

Happy Thanksgiving

We had a great Thanksgiving. But not enough time in the day to get everything done. The kids decided to make gingerbread house instead of playing Monopoly. We watched only half the movie Deck the Halls and went to bed by 9 p.m. exhausted. Over all a fun filled day!

Thanksgiving Dinner Pictures, Images and PhotosOne of my favorite holiday's is Thanksgiving. We started a family ritual a couple of years ago to stay home and enjoy the holiday with the kids. We decorate the Christmas tree and house in the morning. I decorate the main tree and display the Christmas decoration through out the house. While the kids and Brandon decorate a small tree and put out their village collection. We play a couple of board games in the afternoon. After dinner we check out the Christmas lights at the Grand Geneva their absolutely breathtaking. When we get home we have dessert and after watch a Christmas movie. I'm voting for Deck the Halls but I maybe out voted by the movie Elf. Let me see...... how can I bribe them, maybe a second piece of pie. Happy Thanksgiving to All!

Elegant Hutch

I loved the last china hutch I did. So, I was super duper excited to start this project! I think I might be keeping this one. We took out the doors because one of the panels had a crack in the glass. Not to worry, I love open concept china cabinets! It has plenty of storage down below for board games. Me so happy!

Bedroom Makeover

Last week I was busy with a friend painting her bedroom and bathroom. They've lived in their house for 4 years and never painted either rooms. Every room in their house is nicely remodeled but these last 2 rooms. Hard to believe no one's ever seen these rooms before (they lock it). Sara was desperate to have a bedroom makeover and the bathroom was just a bonus. We checked out Lowe's and picked out two colors. It took us one full day for each room. I'm painting they're dresser and we're on the look out for a pair of nightstands and tall dresser. Next week we'll be off shopping to look for some window treatments and accessories. I can't wait to see it all done!

Sewing Machine

My mom asked me to paint her antique sewing machine. I know some people would shutter the thought. It has been in the basement for sometime. I think the only reason she was keeping it is because the gorgeous sewing machine. She disliked the laminate top and the dated color. Once I had it, I was happy to see it was actually a laminate sticker. I filled in some holes and painted it a pale white. I purchased a vintage looking knob at Anthropolgie. I'm so sad to see it leaving in a couple of days. I hoping to one day find one of my own someday to fix up!

Skinny Nightstands

My father-in-law found these skinny nightstands at a rummage sale for a whopping $2! The table top laminate was coming off so I had my lovely husband removed it. I sanded the top and filled many holes. I decided on a fun slate blue with a hint of green. I used the original hardware and lightly distressed it. I love all the amazing details. It already has a home and I hope they like them as much as my father-in-law and myself do!
