Happy Birthday Dad

Today my dad would have celebrated his 60th birthday. But instead we took time in reflecting on our most fond memories of him. There are so many to choose from. I had in the recent months reconnected with a childhood friend. After a couple of e-mails I wrote to her and told her about my dad and she emailed me back with this: I'm so sorry about your dad!! I'm remembering us as kids/teens now and how funny he was. Remember when he took us to that pizza place in Saukville and they knocked on the wall when the pizza was done? We just thought that was hilarious and he thought we were crazy for laughing so much! Or when he busted us toilet papering your own house because we didn't want to make it obvious that we did the other yards and he said, "Get out there and clean that up, and by the way, your not supposed to toilet paper your own house!!" Or sitting in the Ray-mobile listening to his stories while he would drive me home from your house. And of course how we would get busted watering down his wine after we thought we were sneaky by drinking some of it.My how our lives has progressed and the things that have happened! For the good and the bad. After reading that message Dawn wrote I had tears just remembering all the hilarious memories and how great of a dad he was. He was a great listener who kept me grounded. He was funny even when he wasn't trying to be. Patient in answering any questions I had or helping me with my problems or school work. At times felt like he was the only one that really knew me from a child until an adult. At the end of the day I knew he loved me as his own daughter. I loved him just as much and a day does not pass that I don't think of him. Happy Birthday Dad!
